"Your Gunboat fires a high-explosive cannon shell that damages enemy buildings. Be careful not to hit your own troops!"

Summary

  • Artillery is the first weapon available for your Gunboat. It is unlocked right at the start of the game.
  • Artillery deals splash damage in a very small area.
  • Artillery can harm nearby troops and will set off Mines, Boom Mines, and Shock Mines.
  • Each shot costs 2 more Gunboat Energy than the previous, with a starting cost of 3 Gunboat Energy.

Offensive Strategy

  • Use Artillery to destroy key Defensive Buildings so that your troops do not come under fire from them.
  • Artillery can trigger mines, neutralizing them before they threaten your troops. However, the Barrage is more effective for widely dispersed mines due to its large area of effect.
  • Artillery shells deal splash damage. As demonstrated in the image below, up to four buildings can be damaged with the same artillery shell.

  • It is possible to destroy resource and supportive buildings to accumulate more energy for other Gunboat Weaponry, but it is wise to ensure you receive more than spend on firing Artillery. Even then, Critters are more effective versus non-defensive buildings.
  • Artillery can be used to "mark" targets for smokey Zooka attacks on defenses in Operations. Provided that no other targets in range are more severely damaged than the marked target, the Zookas will act to attack the marked target(s) first if a Flare is not used. A similar strategy can be used to target particular buildings when using the Universal Remote.

Defensive Strategy

  • Do not place buildings adjacent to each other, not even adjacent at a corner, as they can all be damaged or destroyed at the same time. 
  • Upgrade defenses that are common Artillery targets to increase their health. If a defense has a lot of health, an attacker will have to use more energy to destroy it. Building Health Statues can also be used for this reason.

Upgrade Differences

  • There are no visual differences between upgrades. However, damage increases (by 8-11%) with each level.
